My name is Yomaries Fernandez, born and raised in NYC. My team and I are hosting a #Hashtag Lunchbag event, which is to provide lunches to homeless or anyone in need.

 

We will be hosting this event in the South Bronx, 3rd avenue and 149th street.Our goal is to distribute 300 lunch bags with in 3 hours on the afternoon of Sunday, November 22nd. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

 

The mission is to help any one who is struggling to find a way to eat. This means homeless, a single parent with children, or simply someone who cannot afford a full meal.

 

All lunches will contain two sandwiches (peanut butter & jelly, turkey & cheese), an apple, water, and a granola bar. All lunch bags will be painted by the expressionist artist, Roxanne Tineo (IG: ohyesitsroxanne) with inspirational, funny or joyful quotes to spread positivity and fine art amongst the community. Any money donated will be used for purchasing all food and supplies which will be used towards the event. Any money left over will be donated to the organization "#Hashtag Lunchbag" which focuses on feeding homeless all over the United States and other countries. The funds will be needed by November 18th to begin prepping for the big day.

 

"Turn The Tables On Hunger" is very important for us for many reasons. The most important is wanting to make a difference. We want to spread positive energy and remind individuals they are not alone. With the holiday season arriving, we understand how pressured people can feel. We'd like to take their mind away from the struggles, even if it's just for a few minutes.

 

Raising these funds means you get to be part of that difference and we want people involved. We want to share the experience and the feeling of helping anyone in need. There aren't words to describe the appreciation we have for anyone willing to help. This will give us great joy and pride to know we can bring people together and make an impact.
